Gas prices continued to plunge over the past week with the AAA saying the average price at the pump in the Iowa Quad Cities is $2.95 a gallon as on Tuesday morning, October 14.

It's a six cent drop from a week ago and a 27-cent drop from a month ago.

It's the lowest among the five metropolitan areas in Iowa.

  • Cedar Rapids $2.96 a gallon average
  • Sioux City: $2.99 a gallon average
  • Waterloo-Cedar Falls: $3.02 a gallon average
  • Des Moines: $3.07 a gallon average

The prices in the Illinois Quad Cities have also tumbled but are still well above the average in cities like Davenport and Bettendorf.

The AAA says the average price in cities like Moline and Rock Island is $3.21 a gallon for regular unleaded.  That's down 12-cents from last Tuesday and a 20-cents less than in mid-September.
