VoteSpotter

The “VoteSpotter” app was designed to help Illinois residents identify their home legislators in the House and Senate, and to track how those legislators vote on key issues facing the state.

The free app was previously only available to track Michigan legislators.  A new version was released by the Illinois Policy Institute in partnership with the Mackinac Center to track Illinois legislators.

Illinois residents can input their own address to find their home legislators and to track their performance, even beyond Election Day.

“Users are then alerted to how their legislators voted on important bills, and will be able to rate their legislators’ votes and individually contact the representative’s office to give feedback,” according to Nathaniel Hamilton from the Illinois Policy Institute.

The app also helps the user contact the legislator via a phone call or email to offer that feedback.

“Users can even post their reaction on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, or notify their friends and neighbors via email or text message,” said a post on the Illinois Policy Institute website.

“The ultimate goal is for this knowledge to result in better votes,” the post said.

The app is available from iTunes and from the Google Play store.
