A Davenport, Iowa man was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole after he was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in Muscatine County Court.

Joshua Corwin, 32, was convicted July 1, 2014 of first-degree sexual abuse, willful injury and second-degree theft after a seven-day trial.

Corwin stole a car in Davenport and used it to drive to rural Muscatine County, where he “burst into the home of an ex-girlfriend and assaulted her,” leaving the woman with multiple facial fractures according to Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren.

Court records showed the July conviction followed a second jury trial in the case, after a mistrial was declared during his first trial in April.

Corwin was sentenced October 1, 2014 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first-degree sexual abuse conviction.  Court records showed he was also sentenced to ten years in prison for the willful injury conviction and five years in prison for the theft conviction.  The sentences were to be served concurrently.
