An Illinois man faced a criminal charge after he allegedly sent an unaccompanied two-year-old into a Walmart store alone.

Steve Lindsey, 28, of Joliet, had reportedly had an argument with the little girl’s mother next to a car in the parking lot of the store Saturday, September 27, 2014, according to several media reports including the Joliet Patch. The woman then went into the Walmart, leaving the child and Lindsey outside.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Lindsey drive out of the camera’s view. A short time later, a surveillance camera captured video of a two-year-old running into the store alone. Another customer, who saw the child was alone, notified a store manager.

Lindsey had allegedly told the toddler to go into the store and “Go find your mother,” according to police.

Lindsey was arrested and charged with endangering the life/health of a child, police said.
