A bike rider was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered when he was hit by a Davenport Police car.

A bike rider was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered when he was hit by a Davenport Police car.

The rider was traveling northbound on Main Street, on a bicycle equipped with a motor, when he was hit by an unmarked patrol car that was eastbound on 5th Street just after noon Monday, September 29, 2014.

The bicyclist was knocked to the ground, and he reportedly suffered “pain and an abrasion to his leg,” police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

As a matter of protocol, the Iowa State Patrol was asked to investigate the crash.
