A Bettendorf, Iowa man faced criminal charges in Illinois after he was accused of trying to solicit someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Michael Marolf, 64, was charged September 2, 2014 with felony indecent solicitation of a child in Bureau County, Illinois. Court records showed Marolf posted bond and was released from the Bureau County Jail the day after formal charges were filed.

A new arrest warrant was issued after Marolf was indicted September 15, 2014, by a Bureau County grand jury, which charged him with indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor, court records said. Both charges are class 3 felonies.

Marolf’s was arrested in connection with texting or email communication he allegedly had, with a Bureau County deputy who was posing as a 14-year-old girl, the Bureau County Republican reported.

Marlof was arrested September 17 at his home in Bettendorf, Iowa, according to Bettendorf Police. He was booked into the Scott County Jail and later extradited to face charges in Bureau County.

Marolf posted bond and was released from the Bureau County Jail, court and jail records showed. His next court appearance was scheduled for November 2014 and jury trial was set for mid-December.
