The Rock Island County Health Department scheduled extra flu shot clinics in addition to their weekly walk-in flu vaccine clinics.

“As in past years, there is no out-of-pocket expense to those with Medicare Part B or Illinois Medicaid Card.  Please bring all Medicare and Medicaid (IPA) cards with you. Most Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance is accepted. Please let us know if your BCBS is an HMO,” said a statement from the Rock Island County Health Department.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended everyone over the age of six months get a flu vaccine shot, the statement said.

The county offers walk-in flu shot clinics to patients who are nine years old and older.  Children who are younger than nine can get flu vaccines only at open children’s clinics, offered October 7, 21 and 28 (see list below) at the Rock Island  County Health Department.
