State’s Attorney says McVay case expected to go to jury trial

Timothy McVay told a judge he wants a trial by jury at a court appearance Friday, September, 12, 2014, in Rock Island County.

Timothy McVay told a judge he wants a trial by jury at a court appearance Friday, September, 12, 2014, in Rock Island County.

Tim McVay, 39, was accused of killing Davenport woman Carrie Olson.  He previously pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and of concealing a homicidal death.

Dave Olson was among several of Carrie Olson's family members and friends who attended McVay's court hearing September 12.

The family continued to ask for privacy.

"This is a very very difficult time for them in their life," County State's Attorney John McGehee said. "I can tell from them that it is really really taking its toll. They are overwhelmed by this whole process."

McGehee said he expected McVay to continue his not guilty plea at his next court hearing, scheduled for September 25, 2014.

McGehee said he also expected a jury trial to be delayed until at least November or later.
