It's two very different sounds of recreation: the roar of demolition derby cars and the tranquility of a small park's playground.

But now one may help the other.

"Hey Misty," said Sandy Hull, a friend to Misty Wilson, organizer of the Jackie English Demolition Derby and Car Auction.

"Oh, what are you doing here?"

"I am here to Pay It Forward on behalf of Ascentra Credit Union and News 8."

Sandy Hull and Misty Wilson are more than good friends.

They are part of a group organizing the September 13 event at the Henry County Fairgrounds named after a friend of theirs, Jackie English, who suffers from the genetic disorder called "Alpha I" which impacts the lungs and liver.

"We raised money for her awareness, we raised money to pay down her medical bills and now this year we just took a new twist with it," says Misty.

That twist comes from Jackie herself.

"Even last year when they did it for me I told them that's enough on me, you know," says Jackie..  "It's time for something else."

So the roar of the demolition derby will now go to other projects, including new playground equipment at Hand Park in Cambridge.

"It's time to Pay It Forward for other people who need something," says Jackie.

"Now we're just paying it forward and it's just a wonderful feeling and we're all just so excited this year, it's just a wonderful thing," says Misty.

This group of women is a family fighting adversity head-on.  Whether it's cancer or Jackie's "Alpha 1" lung condition.

"She's like a sister to me, literally," says Misty.

So helping the children of Cambridge seems the natural next step.

"Every community needs a Misty Wilson.  Yes, they do," says Sandy Hull.

So when you hear the roar of the demolition derby, remember the women behind the race: paying it forward as best they can.

"I don't want anything for it," says Misty.

"I just like to see something good come from it."
