An Iowa woman was found dead at a rural Maquoketa campground.

Police said a 40-year-old woman was unresponsive when a male acquaintance she had been camping with woke up Sunday morning, September 7, 2014 at Maquoketa Caves State Park.  The man called for help around 7:15 a.m., according to Deputy Russ Long with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Long said Stacy Lea Sterrett, from Harper in Keokuk County, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

On October 17, 2014 the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office said there were no indications of foul play and that Sterrett "died of an accidental overdose."
