An Iowa City man faced criminal charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his neighbor during an argument over music.
Police were called to an altercation at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Highway 6 East around midnight Monday, September 1, 2014.
Witnesses told police that 63-year-old Terrill Wiges was yelling at neighbors and involved in a confrontation with another man over the music the man was playing.
Witnesses reported Wiges put a knife to the victim’s throat “and asked him if he was ready to die,” according to an affidavit from police.
The police affidavit said Wiges denied any interaction, saying instead he had been inside his home listening to the radio.
Wiges was arrested and charged with felony going armed with intent and misdemeanor assault with a weapon.
Jail records showed Wiges remained held in the Johnson County Jail on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, in lieu of a total $7,500 bond.
