Kraft Foods voluntarily recalled thousands of cases of American Singles cheese because it was not stored at the proper temperature.

A recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the company was voluntarily recalling 7,691 cases of packaged American Singles Pasteurized prepared cheese product, because a supplier did not store one of the ingredients in the product in accordance with Kraft’s standards, and that could lead to premature spoilage or food-borne illness.

The affected product was produced at the Kraft facility in Springfield, Missouri.

The company had not received any complaints from consumers.

The recalled products are 12-ounce Kraft American Singles (16 slices), package code 0 21000 60464 7 with a best when used by date of 10 FEB 2015 and 21 FEB 2015 on the package; 16-ounce Kraft American Singles (24 slices) 36-count and 12-count cases with package code 0 21000 61525 1 and a best when used by date of 20 FEB 2015; and 64-ounce Kraft American Singles package containing four 24-slice packages with a package code of 0 21000 63360 9 and a best when used by date of 20 FEB 2015.

The “best when used by” dates are on the bottom of the product package.

If you have one of the recalled products, you should not eat them.  Return the product to the store where you bought it for an exchange or full refund.
