Bettendorf volleyball looks to state championship three-peat

The Bettendorf volleyball team is looking toward a state championship for the third year in a row.

The Bettendorf volleyball team is looking toward a state championship for the third year in a row.

With three division one level seniors gone from the team, these athletes know the role they need to fill, and are up for the challenge.

“We’re going to work hard in the gym,” said head coach Diane Lichtenberg. “I feel like I have a different team, losing six seniors, but I think I have a very good team, I mean skilled team; I’m very excited about it.”

The athletes said with the missing seniors, they’re accepting the position of leadership on the team.

“We’re just going into it knowing we’re going to have to work hard to get far at all,” said Addy Baily. “So we all come to practice prepared to play our best and give one hundred percent every day so it’ll pay off in the end hopefully.”

Lichtenberg noted that “every year is a new year” and the players who have been on the team know how much fun hard work can be.

“They know what it takes to get the big prize,” she said.
