Labor Day weekend is the first holiday weekend for Lost Grove Lake in Scott County. Plans for building the lake started in 1987 and construction began in 2010.

Officially opened to the public on August 22, Lost Grove Lake offers an array of activities for guests. From boating, kayaking, fishing, hunting to walking trails, the Iowa DNR expects the nearly 1,700-acre wildlife attraction to reel in about $20 million dollars for the local economy.

The lake is located six miles east of Eldridge. Click here for information from the Iowa DNR.

"I think there will be a lot of traffic here, today there's been [a lot of] boats coming out here so it'll be busy but I think it'll be good for everyone around the local area," said Eldridge resident, John Rieck. "It looks good, it's filling up pretty quickly [with water]. Next year they say [the lake] should be full and hopefully we'll be able to get some fishing boats in here and do a lot of good fishing."

The speed limit on the water is 5 mph.
