County Board to consider removing Board Chair Phil Banaszek

The Rock Island County Board was set to consider removing Board Chairman Phil Banaszek at a special meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

The Rock Island County Board was set to consider removing Board Chairman Phil Banaszek at a special meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

Banaszek has been under fire since June, when the county board took a 'no confidence vote' in him.

Also that month, the Chairman of the Rock Island County Democrats, Doug House, called on Banaszek to resign. House said that Banszek could not manage the financial problems of the county.

Banaszek told News 8 on Monday, August 25, 2014 that he doesn't think the county board can remove him until September, even if they approve the resolution Tuesday night. The county board will also consider reducing its size and hiring an administrator. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the County Offices in downtown Rock Island.
