The wet start to the weekend did not stop military members from enjoying some outdoor fun with their families.

On Saturday, August 23rd, 2014, the Army Community Service (ACS) Center on the Rock Island Arsenal hosted a Military Family Night at Longview Park in Rock Island.

The free event included food and games as well as swimming at Whitewater Junction.

Organizers say it's important to support our military members, because they sacrifice so much.

"Whether it's the soldier who's overseas unaccompanied or the family left behind, we always try to have activities for them whether they're together or apart," said Program Manager, Janice Saito.

The ACS is a community-oriented social service program providing services such as emergency relief assistance, team building, employment resources, and relocation aid.
