Dozens of runners and walkers are raising money for children and other groups in the QCA.

On Saturday, August 23rd, 2014, the Silvis Home Run 5K took place in Silvis, Illinois. All the proceeds from the race go to four groups - Silvis Little League,  the Silvis Fire Department Brotherhood, Silvis Main Street, and the American Heartland Softball Organization.

"It's especially great for the city of Silvis and especially great for our kids by getting them involved in running, getting them involved in participating in city events, and just having a great time," said Silvis Mayor, Tom Conrad.

The race was part of the city's Family Day, which continued into the night with the 13th Annual Moonlight Festival.
