A little league team received some big honors in Davenport.

The Davenport Northwest Little League All-Star team, made up of 9 and 10 year olds, won the Iowa State title on July 26, 2014.

On Wednesday, August 20 the team gathered with Davenport city leaders, parents and coaches to commemorate the honor.

“At ten years old, that’s a pretty nice accomplishment,” said Coach Karl Stratman. “There’s a lot of people who would hope to play for a state championship at any level and never get to, and for them to do that at ten years old is pretty neat.”

The championship took place in Boone, Iowa, where the team played Grandview and won, 8-7.
