An East Moline man and his 7-year-old son are hospitalized Thursday night in Peoria following a motorcycle crash in Silvis, Illinois.

Police tell News 8 that it happened around 6:15 p.m. near 1st Street and Crosstown Avenue.

Paramedics airlifted them from Genesis in Silvis to Peoria for “treatment of critical life threatening injuries.”

Investigators say slick conditions are likely to blame.

There’s no update on their condition late Thursday night.

I do not believe in children on the back of motorcycles for just this reason. This should be considered child endangerment, as the child has no real means of protection on the back of a bike. I am under law to have my child strapped properly in a car seat, and will be fined for not doing so, but am allowed to have a child on the back of a motorcycle completely open to the elements during an accident??
