Dozens of people marched from the Martin Luther King Jr. Park to Schweibert Park in Rock Island for the "QC Justice for Mike Brown Rally," Monday, August 18, 2014.

Brown is an unarmed black teenager who was shot and killed by a white police officer on August 9, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri.

"I think what happened was a terrible thing," said marcher Damon Taylor, "For one, just being gunned down without him having no type of weapon on him at all."

"I'm marching to offer some support to the folks in Missouri against what I think is a massive overreach by the police and I'm encouraging the federal government to step in to investigate this and resolve it as soon as possible," added Bill Sherwood.

The unrest and riots that have followed Brown's death in Ferguson have been especially difficult for Xavier Keen, the organizer of the rally, who grew up near Ferguson, Missouri.

"To see my home in the shambles it is, it's hard, it's heartbreaking," he said.

There was a brief rally at Schweibert Park after the march, where several people spoke and held a moment of silence.
