People in the Quad Cities are trying to raise money for mental health research.

On Sunday, August 17th, 2014, AdamFest took place at Hilltop Fitness in East Moline. The fundraiser featured live bands, martial arts demonstrations, food, and raffles.

AdamFest is named after Adam Smith. He was a student at St. Ambrose University when his family says he killed himself after experiencing paranoia and delusions.

Organizers of AdamFest say all the proceeds will go toward mental health research in Rock Island County as well as helping people in need pay for medication.

"The community is amazing," said Organizer, Meghan Sharp. "The support that we have gotten for this has been unbelievable. It's way more that I could even imagine."
