A family in Silvis, Illinois is getting some help after losing their home to a fire and their belongings allegedly to thieves.

On Sunday, August 17th, 2014, a fundraiser took place for the Holland Family at the Rock Island Boat Club. The event included food, vendors, and a raffle with all the proceeds going to the family.

In June 2014, a fire damaged the Holland's house. Then, one day later, thieves reportedly broke in and stole several items.

"I'm grateful for people reaching out and helping by giving us what they can as far as hours and dollars and helping heal this wound," said Larry Holland.

A Facebook page has been started to help collect donations for the Hollands including household items, clothing, and furniture. There is also an account set up at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union.
