An air glider crashed west of the Quad Cities in Nichols, Iowa when the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing.

The crash happened Sunday, August 17, 2014 just before 3:30 p.m. at 1911 Elder Avenue.

The pilot, Guy Russo, explained that he was flying into Tipton when his glider ran out of warm air to keep it up, forcing him to make an emergency landing.

"I circled the area before I got too low and saw this fallow field out here," Russo said. "This is a flood area, so I didn't damage any crops or get hurt, so I'm happy about that and the airplane is also in good shape."

Investigators said there were no other injuries.
