Viral Video: What you look like to the sun

A video is proving a powerful point by showing people what they see in the mirror, versus how the sun sees them.

Videographer Thomas Leveritt had passersby take a look at themselves through the lens of a regular camera. Then, using a UV filter, he showed them how their skin looks to the sun.

Many of them saw freckles and spots they hadn’t seen before. A report by Science Alert said those patches of melanin, which is skin pigment, were signs of aging and sun damage.

Next, Leveritt gave them sunscreen to apply in front of the camera, and to their surprise, they didn’t see the blended in look you normally see, they saw smears of what looked like black paint.

Leveritt’s message: Wear sunscreen.
