Hundreds of kids swam, biked, and ran as part of a triathlon in Bettendorf.
The Hy-Vee Kids Fit Triathlon took place at the Bettendorf YMCA Saturday morning, August 16, 2014. A record 400 kids from ages 6 to 15 participated in the event.
The triathlon was just like any other, moderated with shorter distances based on age.
“You’ve got to really thank the parents and the volunteers because they do a lot with setting it up like pretty much every race, volunteers spend hours setting this up and getting rocks and dust and everything off the road so that we can be safe and race and have a lot of fun,” said one person at the event.
The top 15 boys and top 15 girls from each age division qualified to compete in the championship triathlon, which is held in Des Moines on August 30.
