Police are looking for a man accused of stabbing another man in Galesburg.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 29-year-old Christopher L. Croom from Chicago after he allegedly stabbed 49-year-old Melvin Buckner, according to a statement from the Executive Secretary of the City of Galesburg.

Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Buckner, had been stabbed in a front yard in the 500 block of West Brooks Street just before midnight Wednesday evening, August 13, 2014.

Buckner was hospitalized for treatment of his stab wounds.

Croom is wanted for attempted murder and aggravated battery, the statement said.
