A unit dedicated to helping injured soldiers to moving away from the Rock Island Arsenal.
An inactivation ceremony was held for the Community Based Warrior Transition Unit on Friday, August 15, 2014. For nearly a decade the group provided treatment to military members who were wounded in active duty.
“If there’s an issue with a soldier, and they are not being taken care of properly, it doesn’t take long to go all the way up to Congress and the highest possible levels,” said Lt. Col. Richard Blake, the unit’s commander. “I’m fortunate to say that in my time here we have not had to deal with any of those issues and that’s a testament to the success and capability of the cadre that served here, taking care of our services.”
The group is moving to Fort Knox in Kentucky.
