A Muscatine woman is planning one of the biggest days of her life without one of her biggest supporters--her dad. Timothy Lane was murdered in May, but before that, he was planning his daughter Nicole Lane's wedding scheduled for September.

"He was doing everything. He was buying the dress, booking everything, paying for everything; I actually wasn't planning, he was the one planning," said Lane.

So now a friend is stepping up to help cover some of the costs.

"I knew that she was really close with her dad and that her and her dad had been planning a lot together," said Jackie Means.

Means created an online fundraising page to help with wedding expenses.

"I didn't want her to have to worry about anything, she already has a lot going on," said Means.

The goal for the fundraiser is $1,000. As of 10:25 p.m. on August 14, 2014, $520 was already raised.

"It means a lot. Every day I actually check it to see and every time I see it go up, it just means a lot," said Lane.

So that although her dad won't be there to walk her down the aisle, she can still have the wedding he planned for her.

"He bragged to everybody. He handed out invitations to everybody that would walk in his office or that he'd run into on the streets."
