Days after protests erupted when a teen was shot by police, another officer reportedly shot another person in that same community in Missouri.

Protests, violence and looting were reported in the hours and days after a police officer fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Witnesses reported Brown was unarmed and had his hands in the air when he was shot; police said a struggle between Brown and the officer led to the shooting, and the officer was also reportedly injured in the scuffle.

Citing death threats, police did not identify the officer involved in the shooting.

An officer chased a suspected shooter after police said they heard shots fired in a Ferguson neighborhood at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, according to our sister station KTVI. The pursuit ended when the officer reportedly shot the suspect, and the suspect was in critical condition when taken to a hospital.

About a half-hour before that foot pursuit, a woman was reportedly shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in Ferguson. KTVI reported the woman was expected to survive.

The incidents were not believed to be directly related to the Michael Brown shooting or to the protests.
