Painter killed in fall from tower in rural Stockton

A member of a paint crew died when he fell from a tower in Stockton, Illinois.

The crew was painting a communications tower at 13668 E. Morseville Road when 49-year-old Thomas Lucas, of Toledo, Illinois, reportedly fell 80 to 90 feet.

The incident was reported at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014.

Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jo Daviess County Coroner according to information from the sheriff’s department.

Lucas was part of a crew working for Sherwood Tower Services, based in Terre Haute, Indiana.
