Dozens of people gathered together Friday, August 8, 2014 to remember 50-year-old Eddie Martin who was shot and killed while riding his bike in Burlington Wednesday, August 6, 2014.

The vigil was held on the corner of Aetna and South Gunnison in Burlington, where Martin was killed.

"It's a shame that it takes something like this, you know, to bring us together," said Gina Wood, Eddie's sister-in-law.

"We not supposed to harden our heart but it is hard not to when you lose somebody so special, so cool, so loving. It hurts," said Arthur Gordon, Eddie's nephew.

The hurt was felt with each candle to remember the man that brought dozens of people to the corner.

"Everywhere he went he was spreading love in someone's life," said Burlington Mayor Shane McCampbell.

His family, even his mayor, honoring the man known as Ed "Lover" who was shot and killed while riding his bike right next to the memorial set up for him with candles and flowers.

"He was a good person. He was had a good heart. I mean, he'd do anything for anybody," said Wood.

"Fun loving, understanding, never judgmental," added Gordon.

"He didn't care who you were or what color you were. He would just love ya," said McCampbell.

The love for Ed "Lover" bringing people together, to remember the man who gave them some of their best times.

"When I saw him I always had a smile on after I left," said McCampbell.
