A Knox County volunteer firefighter pleaded guilty to three counts of arson in connection with fires he was accused of setting in the Williamsfield area.

Blake Walsh, 24, was arrested in April 2014 after investigators determined he was a suspect in a series of arson fires involving hay bales, grass fields and trash bins.

Walsh was a volunteer firefighter for the Williamsfield, Illinois Fire Department when he was charged.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Walsh pleaded guilty Wednesday, August 16, 2014, to three counts of arson in exchange for other charges against him being dropped, according to the Galesburg Register Mail.

Walsh was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation prior to sentencing, the report said.

Walsh remained held in the Knox County Jail.
