Carbon Cliff lifts boil order for homes on Pleasant Avenue

All homes on Pleasant Avenue in Carbon Cliff, Illinois, were under a boil order after a water main break.

All homes on Pleasant Avenue in Carbon Cliff, Illinois, were under a boil order after a water main break.

The break happened early Thursday morning, August 7, 2014.

Water Operator Mike Whittington issued the boil order as a precaution.  The order meant residents in the affected area should bring water to a rolling boil for five minutes before using it for drinking or cooking, Whittington said. That boil order was lifted Friday evening, August 8.

“All water samples taken by the Village of Carbon Cliff, as required by the Illinois and Federal EPA, have passed,” said Karen Hopkins, Village Clerk. “Residents within the Village of Carbon Cliff are no longer under a boil order for their water.”
