Update as of 3 p.m., Sunday August 3, 2014 -- One person was taken to the hospital after the semi-truck he was driving flipped onto its side, according to the Chief of the Hillsdale Fire Department.

Emergency responders say they received the call around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 3rd.

Officials say the driver of a semi-truck was coming around the corner on Route 2 North in Hillsdale, Illinois at a high rate of speed, when he lost control, went off the road, and flipped. The speed limit for that corner is 50 mph.

Officials say the driver was able to get out of the semi before emergency responders arrived at the scene. He was transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

Officials say there was a minor fuel spill in the tank of the truck, but emergency crews were able to plug it quickly and will be able to permanently patch it once the semi is sitting upright.

A portion of Route 2 North was closed in both directions at that time.
