A Davenport mother has pleaded guilty to leaving her baby in the car in a Moline parking lot.

Rock Island County court documents show that Wednesday, July 30, 2014, Breyana Harris, 20, pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment.

On July 22, police were called to the Dollar General in Moline after a citizen saw a baby left alone in a car.

Previous reports indicate that officers said they found the car in question parked in the sun, with all of the windows slightly open. An infant was in a baby carrier seat-belted into the back seat.

“(T)he temperature inside the vehicle had reached a dangerous level for the child,” said Moline Police Department Detective Scott Williams.

Police got the baby out of the car, and although he was hot and sweaty, he did not appear to be in distress. About twenty minutes after police arrived on scene Harris and a one-year-old girl showed up, Williams said.

The children were both taken into protective custody.

Harris was sentenced to one year probation and 60 days in jail with credit for time served.
