A boil advisory has been issued for some Rock Island water customers.
The advisory spans from 31st Street to 39th Street, 6th Avenue to 12th Avenue and 44th Street to 46th Street, 7th Avenue to 15th Avenue.
All water used for drinking and cooking should be boiled until further notice.
A main break on a hydrant lateral is the cause of the advisory, according to Public Works Director, Randall Tweet.
The system’s pressure has been restored and crews are working on repairs.
“The boil advisory is expected to be lifted in 24 hours,” said a City of Rock Island spokesperson. “This is just a precaution, there are no indications the water is unsafe for consumption.”
