The man charged in the murder of 29 year-old Carrie Olson was in court on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

The hearing was continued after the defense team requested more time to look at reports.

39 year-old Tim McVay was in court on Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was arrested one day before at a home he was remodeling in Silvis. Olson had been missing since December of 2013 when her body was found in early April, 2014.

McVay was charged with first degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death. The family showed up at McVay's court appearance on July 19, 2014.

"They want to remain private through this process, and they are really good people," Rock Island County State's Attorney John McGehee said that day. "And they are very distraught about this whole process."

He was scheduled back in court August 12.  If convicted, McVay faces a minimum of 20 years in prison.
