Bicyclists rode nearly 70 miles to dip their tires in the river on the final day of RAGBRAI.

On Saturday, July 26, 2014 participants rode from Independence, Iowa to the final stop at the Mississippi River in Guttenberg, according to the RAGBRAI event website.

Riders started Sunday, July 20 in Rock Valley. On the second day of the ride, 62-year-old Tom Teesdale from West Branch, Iowa died on the route near Graettinger. He suffered from a medical issue while he was riding, according to a blog post on the RAGBRAI website.

On day five of RAGBRAI a second cyclist died. According to the RAGBRAI website, 74-year-old George “Frank” Binkerhoff of Sioux City was found dead inside a tent along the route in Mason City. Initial information indicated that it appeared he died of natural causes.
