A 56-year-old Wapello, Iowa man died in a motorcycle wreck near Columbus City.
Guy Smith was traveling east/southeast on X37, east of Columbus City in Louisa County, when the 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating crossed the center line according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.
Smith lost control and the motorcycle continued across the oncoming lane before it went off the road into the ditch at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
Smith was thrown from his motorcycle, and the motorcycle came to rest on its side.
No other vehicles were involved.
The report said Smith died at the scene of the crash.
