A 74-year-old cyclist was found dead inside a tent along the RAGBRAI route in Mason City, Iowa.

George “Frank” Brinkerhoff, of Sioux City, was found just before 6 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 according to information on the RAGBRAI website.

Initial information indicated it appeared Brinkerhoff died of natural causes.

A police department spokesman said Brinkerhoff was participating in RAGBRAI, but it was unclear whether he was riding alone or as part of a group.

Brinkerhoff’s death was the second reported during the 2014 RAGBRAI. Tom Teesdale, 62, of West Branch, died of a heart attack along the route near Graettinger on Monday, July 21.
