Neighbors reported hearing the sound of two gunshots minutes before police and an ambulance arrived in a neighborhood north of downtown Davenport.

Davenport Police confirmed that one person was shot in the 900 block of West 6th Street and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Initial reports indicated that it happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

Initial reports indicated that police took two people into custody after brief foot pursuits that ended a few blocks from the scene of the reported shooting.

News 8 saw one man, on a stretcher, being put into an ambulance near the location where the shooting reportedly happened.   Police had blocked off an area near 6th and Warren  streets.

Police on the scene declined to immediately confirm the nature of their investigation.
