After more than two months of detouring, drivers regained direct access to Niabi Zoo Road from Route 6 in Coal Valley.
Niabi Zoo Road reopened to traffic, and the 78th Avenue detour route was closed.
The roadway reopened Friday, July 18, 2014, relieving drivers of the 20-miles-per-hour detour from Route 6 through residential neighborhoods on 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th streets to get to Niabi Zoo Road.
The Route 6 Bridge remained reduced to one open lane for each direction of travel as crews continued to work.
