Woman arrested for Davenport bank robbery

A Des Moines woman was arrested and charged in connection with the robbery of a U.S. Bank branch that happened in Davenport.

A Des Moines woman was arrested and charged in connection with the robbery of a U.S. Bank branch that happened in Davenport.

The bank, at 4004 Northwest Boulevard, was reportedly robbed just before noon Friday, July 11, 2014.  The suspect was described then as a woman or a man dressed as a woman, about 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighing approximately 270 pounds.  The suspect reportedly had gold-capped teeth, hair pulled back in a ponytail, and was wearing a pink hat and gray t-shirt.

Police released one surveillance photo the day of the robbery, and other surveillance camera images several days later that indicated the suspect may have been in the bank prior to the alleged robbery.

Mercedes Griebe, 22, of Des Moines, was arrested in Des Moines at about 3 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 according to a spokesman for the Davenport Police Department.

Police charged Griebe with second-degree robbery.

Griebe was held in the Polk County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash-only bond.
