Two veterans from Illinois received medals to replace those they earned during their military service in the Korean War.

Edward Welvaert was presented with replacements for his National Defense Service medal, his Korean Service medal and Bronze Star, his United Nations Service medal and his Korean War Service medal.

Frank Ochoa Sr. was presented with replacements for his National Defense Service medal, his Korean Service medal and Bronze Star, his Combat Infantryman badge, his United Nations Service medal and his Korean War Service medal.

The replacement medals presentation followed a request by Ochoa’s son, Frank Ochoa Jr. of Rock Falls, who contacted Congresswoman Cheri Bustos for help finding replacement medals for his father.

The presentations were made Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Bustos’ office.
