After flooding forced the Channel Cat water taxi to suspend service, rides have resumed on the Mississippi River.
Service was halted when flooding, that began the week before the Independence Day holiday, made boating on the river too dangerous for barges and pleasure craft, including the Channel Cat.
Two of the four local ports remained inaccessible for the Channel Cat as floodwater continued to recede. When service resumed at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, ports were limited to Celebration Belle Landing in Moline and the Isle of Capri Landing in Bettendorf.
“The John Deere Commons Landing and the Village of East Davenport Landing will remain closed due to the high river level and flooding,” said a spokesperson for the MetroLINK Channel Cat.
The Channel Cat will still run a complete round trip as shown on their usual schedule map, but will only stop at the two open ports.
