Spieth makes the cut

After finishing even on the first day of tournament play, some feared 2013 JDC champ Jordan Spieth might not be around to finish the weekend at Deere Run.

After finishing even on the first day of tournament play, some feared 2013 JDC champ Jordan Spieth might not be around to finish the weekend at Deere Run.

Spieth put those fears to rest, finishing Cut Day at 7 under at the John Deere Classic.

He came out focused and on fire, striking immediately at his first hole on 10 where he sticks it three feet from the cup.  The birdie got him under par for the first time in the tournament.

Spieth went on to birdie 11, 14, 17, 18, 1, 2 and 8.

On 2, Spieth's seventh birdie - through just 11 holes - took him to 7 under par.

He stayed red hot on 8 with a 30-footer putt for birdie.

Eight birdies and one lone bogey took Spieth to 7 under, and right back in the hunt at the John Deere Classic.
