Davenport city leaders will give their last vote on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 on the proposed St. Ambrose University sports complex.

The agenda item has been through three committee of the whole agendas and now three city council agendas. In that time period, city council members have voted to move forward with the project. Council members voted 6-4 to move forward with the project on June 11, 2014 and June 25, 2014.

SAU wants to build a 2,500 seat stadium near West Central Park Avenue and Marquette Street. They also want to upgrade their softball diamond and two practice fields. In mid June, Davenport City Engineer Brian Schadt tried to ease concerns from neighbors about storm water runoff.

“The proposed design by St. Ambrose will not make the area worse, and they have indicated that they want to help solve the storm water issues that are in the area,” Schadt said on June 16, 2014.

SAU would like to have phase one of its project complete by the fall of 2015. That includes the parking lot and improvements to the two practice fields. Wednesday's meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at Davenport City Hall.
