Then, the storm hit.

Farmers scrambled to assess damage after high winds flattened some fields during storms Monday, June 30, 2014.

Several fields in Rock Island, Mercer, Henry and Whiteside counties were damaged; major damage was reported in the southern part of Rock Island County.

Some corn was uprooted but not broken, leaving a chance that it can recover.
