A Rock Island man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman near Scott Community College.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 a woman had arrived at SCC to watch a Pleasant Valley and Central High school baseball game. Just as she was getting out of her car a man approached her and pushed her back into her car, according to Lt. Bryce Schmidt, from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman fought back, honked her car horn and yelled, drawing attention from people at the baseball game.

Schmidt said the man, who was later identified as 24-year-old Anthony Duane Williams, took off and ran toward SCC. Some spectators ran after him and kept watch of where he went.

He was taken into custody and charged with one count of 2nd degree burglary and one count of driving while revoked, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said the woman was visibly upset by the incident, but she was not seriously injured. Also, she did not know the man before the incident occurred.
