The motorcyclist that collided with a deer on Route 84 near the Whiteside County line died as a result of injuries he suffered in the crash.
The Rock Island County Police said shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 a 52-year-old Mt. Sterling, Illinois man was heading northbound on Route 84 near 261st Street North when a deer ran in front of his 2013 Harley Davidson.
Police said the man tried to brake, but couldn’t avoid the deer. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police closed Illinois Route 84 after the collision. Emergency responders closed a stretch of Route 84 that is about a mile long, between 261st Street N and Meredosia Road.
The man’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
